More About The Book

“Born Round” is an overeater’s story, told from an unusual perspective: the overeater winds up making food the focus of his professional life. That’s where the book begins, with my appointment as the restaurant critic of the New York Times. It then flashes back to explain why that was so ironic.

Its colorful cast of characters includes my loving Italian-American family, the weight-obsessed friends I make in high school and beyond, and the public figures I meet as a journalist

It takes place in New York, North Carolina, San Diego, Detroit, Washington, D.C., and Rome, where I not only ate well but also learned a lot about a healthy relationship with food.
