About the book
“Born Round” is an overeater’s story, told from an unusual perspective: the overeater winds up making food the very focus of his professional life. That’s where the book begins, with my appointment as the restaurant critic of the New York Times in 2004. It then flashes back to explain why that appointment was such an odd twist in a turbulent life.
